The Future of A World A’Fair

This time of year, we would normally be sharing all about A World A’Fair and how excited we are to attend.

Unfortunately, the event has been cancelled for the third year in a row. According to a statement on their website:
“Unfortunately, due to the uncertainties surrounding Covid-19 and its variants plus uncertainties surrounding the Convention Center’s new ownership and management, the festival board has decided to cancel the May 2022 festival and study revamping the festival, pretty much from scratch. We have formed a committee to study what our options might be and as any decisions are made they’ll be presented here.”

We hope to see the festival return in the future! Here are some pictures from past years.

A World A’Fair 2021 is Postponed

After the 2020 A World A’Fair was postponed, and then cancelled, we were so disappointed. Unfortunately, it seems like that may be the case again. Originally scheduled for Friday May 21st through Sunday May 23rd, the festival has once again been postponed, and will potentially be rescheduled for the fall.

It’s that time of year! We recently got to attend the 46th annual World A’Fair and Dayton Sideshow 14!

Also, in light of Monday’s storms that have deeply affected the area, our friends at Gem City Tonight are taping on location at Hannah’s Bar at 121 North Ludlow Street tonight starting at 5, and hosting a fundraiser for the Dayton Tornado Disaster Relief. Anything you can bring will help; toiletries, monetary donations, canned goods, etc.

To the lady who met Bethany’s mother at the base hospital yesterday: we would love to know who you are, and we thank you for your kind words!

Sara attended the annual A World A’Fair international festival on May 19th, and had a blast! This is one of our favorite events, and we look forward to it every year.

World A’Fair is Coming!

The World A’Fair is a three-day international festival including food, dancing, music, and cultural exhibits. This year there will be 34 booths, representing countries from all over the world. The theme this year will be Ethnic Attire.

When:

Friday, May 18th: 5pm-11pm
Saturday, May 19th: 11am-11pm
Sunday, May 20th 11am-6pm

Where:

Dayton Convention Center, 22 E Fifth Street, Dayton 45402

A World A’Fair

It’s that time of year again! The World A’Fair is a three-day international festival including food, dancing, music, and cultural exhibits. The theme this year is Folk Medicine, and booths from over 30 countries will represent their take on this theme.

Dayton Sideshow

When: Friday May 13 from 5pm to 1 am and Saturday, May 14 from 3pm to 1 am

Where: Old Yellow Cab Building, 700 East Fourth Street, Dayton 45402.

This weekend is Sideshow 11, Dayton’s community arts festival. You will see paintings, sculptures, and art installations and hear live musical acts. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. This is a family friendly event, so bring the kids along as you explore different styles of art and self-expression. Food trucks and local brews will be available as well, so make a night of it.
